Hi.

Welcome to my blog, where I document my adventures as a mom living and loving in the Midwest. I live on a budget (my fashion is based on clearance racks), eat pretty clean because of my thyroid (Hashimoto’s disease), stay home with my kids (who I love with all my heart, yet can often use a break from), and am finally getting back into writing (after years of forgetting it made me happy).

On this New Year’s Eve

On this New Year’s Eve

In the spirit of ushering in a fresh new year, I’ve decided to start a special journal. It‘s not fancy, expensive, or really much more than a hard cover bound together with lined paper, but it is indeed special—because it holds potential, and dreams. I’m not alone, for I am joining millions of other people equally inspired by the possibilities a New Year’s Eve has to offer. With grand plans to hit the gym, get a different job, be a kinder parent, listen more, travel someplace new, start college, leave a partner, find a new friend, write a book, start a blog ... together we will start the new year with a combined sense of wonder and enthusiasm.

My plan is to write down my professional and personal goals, both for 2018 and for the future in general. My hope is to remain inspired throughout the year, and always. Can you even imagine how awesome life would be if we could all feel this hopeful, this excited, this joyful — every day?

I’m gonna do it, and I hope you join me by making a fun plan for yourself. I won’t share everything, because it’s deeply personal, but I will share what I’m putting on the front page, to be there leading the way for every abundant year ahead.

A few thoughts and RESOLUTIONS. For they are but goals, and goals can be guides for our bodies, our minds and our souls.

When needed, a REVOLUTION. As in standing up for what the heart knows to be true, whether it be obvious or under the surface. Let me always be present and aware of the need for change when necessary. May I always stand up when compelled, and have the strength to throw down when necessary—especially when to do otherwise would compromise my soul’s deeper knowing.

And always, EVOLUTION. May I forever strive for the internal peace and external confidence that is required  for me to realize my dreams, and to be the woman I was born to be—simultaneously holding on to what I believe, while always opening myself up to new ideas and new opportunities. May I willingly choose a new path when my map is not clear, stay the course when I simply cannot see the road, and give myself permission to change direction whenever necessary.

Life is a wonderful journey, full of abundant joyfulness and equally painful moments. The real gift is knowing that the challenges are somehow worth it. Because alongside each and every tear lies a smile, an opportunity for change, and the promise of a new day.

Happy New Year everyone! May 2018 be filled with happiness, love, and a profound sense of accomplishment.
